Intimacy Anorexia Coaching
What you need to know
Rebuilding Connection. Restoring Intimacy. Renewing Hope.
You may love your spouse and still feel completely disconnected from them.
Maybe your marriage has become more like a business partnership than a relationship. Conversations stay on the surface. Affection is rare. Emotional connection feels distant. Physical intimacy has become infrequent or nonexistent. You may even wonder how two people can share the same home yet feel so alone.
If this describes your marriage, you’re not alone.
At Greenway, we help individuals and couples identify the patterns that are keeping them disconnected and develop practical tools to rebuild emotional, spiritual, and physical intimacy.

What Is Intimacy Anorexia?
Intimacy Anorexia is the active withholding of emotional, spiritual, or physical intimacy from one’s spouse.
It is more than simply having a low sex drive or being naturally reserved. It is an ongoing pattern of withholding the very things that create closeness and connection within a marriage.
This pattern can include:
-
Withholding affection
-
Avoiding meaningful conversations
-
Rarely expressing appreciation or encouragement
-
Withholding sexual intimacy
-
Remaining emotionally unavailable
-
Staying overly busy with work, hobbies, ministry, or other activities to avoid connection
-
Frequently criticizing or blaming a spouse
-
Avoiding spiritual connection, such as praying together or sharing your faith
-
Creating distance whenever the relationship begins to grow closer
Over time, the spouse experiencing these behaviors often feels deeply lonely, rejected, unwanted, and emotionally abandoned.
The encouraging news is that these patterns can change. Healing is possible, and intimacy can be rebuilt.
Individual Coaching
Whether you recognize these patterns in yourself or you’re trying to understand why your marriage feels so disconnected, individual coaching provides a safe place to begin.
Together we’ll work to:
-
Understand the patterns that are damaging intimacy
-
Identify the underlying issues contributing to emotional distance
-
Develop greater emotional awareness
-
Learn healthy vulnerability
-
Build empathy and emotional connection
-
Improve communication
-
Replace unhealthy relational habits with healthier ones
-
Grow spiritually while strengthening your marriage
Recovery isn’t about becoming a different person. It’s about learning healthier ways to connect with the person you love.

Couples Coaching
Because intimacy anorexia impacts both spouses, healing often involves working together as a couple.
Couples coaching provides a safe environment to:
-
Understand the cycle that’s keeping your relationship stuck
-
Improve communication
-
Rebuild emotional safety
-
Restore trust and connection
-
Develop healthier conflict resolution
-
Increase emotional and spiritual intimacy
-
Rebuild physical intimacy at a healthy pace
-
Create practical habits that strengthen your marriage
Every couple’s journey is different. Some begin with couples coaching immediately. Others benefit from individual coaching first. Some choose an intensive to jumpstart the recovery process before transitioning into ongoing coaching.
Rather than following a predetermined formula, we’ll work together to create a recovery plan that best fits your relationship and your goals.
